    Why I’m struggling

The subject of this blog post was supposed to be all about how to manage a successful work-life balance, but since I broke down in the middle of town on Friday night after a couple of cocktails crying about how exhausted I am, I hardly think I am well equipped to talk about that. So, we are going on a different tack and I’m going to tell you what I’m struggling with, with running my own business and how I’m planning to get my life back! Starting your own business is hard work. I don’t know why I’m surprised by that, I should know already! I’ve previously run 2 successful…

Fancy Doing Something Amazingly Different? Keep Reading…

On Saturday I was invited* to head on down to take part in a Silent Adventure Tour in Liverpool. To be honest, I’d never heard of them before so I went on their website to see what it was all about and I was left feeling a bit bewildered and intrigued.  It certainly sounded up my street. As an ex-professional dancer, there is nothing more I love than having a boogie and the idea of a flash mob in the middle of the city centre, well, I was RSVPing as quick as I could! The meeting place was the Club House in Liverpool One. We were taking part in the…

Nipple Tassles At The Ready: Popping My Burlesque Cherry

On Friday night I was invited down to Phase One in Seel Street to *review the Spare Rib Superstar 2019. The closest I’ve ever come close to Burlesque is watching that questionable film featuring Christina and Cher. So, with trepidation and my general questioning nosiness, I told my husband to cancel his evening’s plans as he had to come with me and watch some gorgeous girls (and boys) take their clothes off. Tough life being married to me eh!? The night featured 12 fantastic, up and coming Burlesque artists that were competing for the title of Spare Rib Superstar. With an audience vote and a judges vote, 2 acts were…

10 Ways To Win At Married Life(!)

In my life, I’ve made 2 great choices. One was choosing to become a professional dancer and the other one was saying Yes when Adam proposed to me. I love married life but it is one of the hardest things I have EVER committed to in my life. I’m not even being sarcastic when I say that, it’s hard work BUT it’s the best. I actually love married life maybe cos I love a challenge 🤷 Anyways, I never thought I would get married, honestly, I never thought I would be able to find someone who would put up with me. I’m fully aware of my bad points. I’m headstrong, stubborn, a…

    My go to podcasts

Aren’t podcasts brilliant? Sometimes I will find my finger hovering over the podcast button on Spotify a little bit too often. I love music, I constantly have my phone blaring out music like a personal ghetto-blaster but there are some times that call for a podcast. Mine is when I’m driving or when I’m cooking and cleaning. They enable me to switch off my mind and be able to fully immerse myself into something different than my Spotify daily mix. If you’re not a podcast fan or just haven’t found the right one for you read on because I’m sharing my favourites you. Jules and Sarah the podcast is actual…

Be kind and stop the shaming.

You’ll never hear a bunch of women stand around and say positive things about their body. It’s always derogatory comments about the size of our thighs/stomach/bums. Why do we do this? Is it a natural way of protecting yourself in case someone else rudely points out your “flaws’. Maybe. Maybe it’s because women generally compare themselves to other women, “She has amazing legs”, “Wish I had her bum”. Will we ever stop slating ourselves and focusing on bits we don’t like. Why don’t we stand around and celebrate us as heathly, strong, intelligent women. This blog post has taken me a while to write. It’s been sat in my draft…

    Why I won’t be Hinching

I’m just gonna throw it out there and say I’m not a fan of Mrs Hinch. I like a super clean house and if only I knew that filming me cleaning my bin would have made my Insta flare up I would have done it years ago. I’m actually gutted I never thought of sharing my cleaning routine until now. So now that I’m writing about cleaning my house I look like I’m trying to jump on the Hinch Army following. I’m not. I’m simply trying to show people another way to clean without using 54,683,833 cleaning products. Plus what’s with all the grey? And don’t even get me started…

    Happy Capitalist Rip Off Day!

I hate Valentine’s day. It’s official. Maybe it’s because I was never sent cards in school, maybe it’s because I can’t stand the massive consumer push behind it or maybe it’s simply because I’m an ice queen completely void of romance…you decide! Saying you don’t like Valentine’s day is like saying you don’t like kids. People can’t get their heads around it and it proper offends them. Let’s just say I’m not single AND I’m not going through a bad patch in my relationship! Honestly, the whole thing just makes me cringe! Like walking down the high street seeing window displays of heart-shaped balloons floating around with heart-shaped chocolates, heart-shaped…

    2018: My year in review.

Happy New Year! Now that 2018 is nearly over I thought now would be a perfect time for this blog post. I wanted to talk a little about 2018 and things I have learned, things to improve on, and things going forward. 2018 was a year that has taught me a lot. Mainly to realise that you aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. And you know what? I’m fine with that. I only want to surround myself with good people with good morals. I’m super lucky to have people in my life that are decent people with good souls, I value ALL of my friends and love them…

    You’re fired!

Yesterday was fun. Myself and the rest of my department were made redundant. I started this new job back in July. It was supposed to be my new career after a life of being a professional dancer/choreographer. I was getting fed up with never being at home, always working, no pension, no paid holidays, no security(!) Instead, it turned out to be a short-lived career full of disappointment, a gain in weight and a life lesson. Before this job, I had been self-employed for most of my working life, and now having worked in a “9 to 5” I can honestly say that  I am not made for that life.…

There’s no business like show business

I feel like I could talk about my life as a dancer for hours. I’ve been super lucky to have worked as a dancer for around 14 years (badly showing my age here). I have travelled the world, met my husband and made some lifelong friends along the way. It’s been a crazy, emotional, thrilling, tiring, draining and skint journey but I have loved every second of it. I’m going to try and share some of the ups and downs of my career as I feel like it’s coming to a natural end now due to me nearly being grown up and having responsibilities (house, husband and cat!). Dancing was…

10 Things I’ve learnt from being a driver

It’s nearly been a year since I passed my driving test and what a year it’s been. I never thought I would be a driver. I just didn’t have the urge to drive as most other people did. I excelled at being a passenger. I was a great passenger, I never got road rage or got mad at people for stealing our car park spaces. That never happened. Honest(!) So at the tender age of 32 I passed my driving test on my 2nd attempt. I’m not bitter that I didn’t pass first time, really, (LIE), this is the first time that I’ve spoken about it without flying into a…

    Resolutions for 2017

I don’t usually make new years resolutions….Well I start the right way and in December I start planning all the amazing changes I want to make to my life; such as have more money, join a gym, eat healthier home cooked meals. However, by the end of January they are a distant memory and by February they might as well have not even existed! The problem is, I find I make resolutions that aren’t attainable. I kinda go all out and expect myself to become this amazing life coach with great organisational skills, that is cooking home cooked meals every day whilst doing as much exercise as an Olympian. Let’s be…

Kilner were showcasing their new range of products for 2017 and there was also a huge amount of drinks and snacks (thanks to Bakchick and the Chocolate Cellar) and Kilners amazing Freakshakes to marvel over. All the staff at the Kilner event were so passionate about their products and they are actually some of the research and…

    Why I love January

I wouldn’t go as far as saying that January is my favorite month, I mean…come on. But it’s pretty high up there as much as June, July, September is (best month, next best month until the kids break up and my anniversary month!) It’s a month of new. New body. New habits. New notebooks. New resolutions and new socks (thanks Mum). I love the freshness, the positivity that everyone has in the first 3 days of the year. Everyone is a bit skint so there are some fantastic offers on and you give your liver a chance to recoup from that massive dent you put in that bottle of gin. …
